About Jeannie Moloo

Jeannie is a nationally recognized expert on food, nutrition and health. As a national media spokesperson for The American Dietetic Association, the nation’s largest professional organization that represents more than 70,000 nutrition professionals, she is quoted often as a nutrition expert in national publications and appears frequently as a guest on national radio and local television.

Background

Jeannie has worked extensively with individuals, companies, hospitals, clinics and the media. Her varied background in nutrition, preventive medicine, and public health provides her with a unique perspective for providing nutrition care for weight management, bariatric nutrition, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and digestive conditions.

Education

Jeannie graduated with a bachelor’s degree in dietetics from the University of California at Davis. She continued with a master’s degree in human nutrition from Texas A&M University, where she also completed her training as a registered dietitian. Her doctorate is in nutrition epidemiology from The University of Iowa, College of Medicine.

Experience

Jeannie has been a registered dietitian for over 20 years. Prior to opening her private practice four years ago she directed the Cardiovascular Disease, Outreach, Resources, and Epidemiology program for the California Department of Health Services. Under her direction, the program conducted the first statewide analysis of heart disease and stroke deaths and hospitalizations for cities in California. From these analyses, targeted community-based interventions to prevent heart disease and stroke were implemented throughout the State. She has also worked as a clinical dietitian, outreach nutrition educator, and freelance food and health writer.

Publications

She has co-authored two cookbooks, The No-Salt, Lowest Sodium Cookbook (St. Martin’s Press, 2002) and The No-Salt, Lowest Sodium Baking Book (St. Martin’s Press, 2003). She has been a monthly columnist for over eleven years for The Beacon Review (Denver, Colorado), Senior Magazine (San Luis Obispo, California), and Plus Magazine (San Luis Obispo).
